Slovakia In Transition

Tom Johnson

Updated: Jan 18, 2020

November 17, 1989 marked the end of communism in Czechoslovakia; and on January 1, 1993 the Slovak and Czech Republics separated in what is known as the Velvet Divorce.

New found freedoms have brought both great opportunity and serious challenges.  Divorces have risen to over 60% in a short time bringing added stress to families and especially the children. A need has arisen for quality values-based activities for young people. GoodSports is working to meet this need.
